Remembering Icons We Lost In 2016

''I don't know where I'm going from here, But I promise it won't be boring. '' - David Bowie

I was writing this post when I heard about the sudden death of George Micheal. I was taken aback with the news that the world has lost one more  legend as if we already haven't lost them enough in 2016.

George Michael

This year was very tough for people who really appreciate the music and know what these icons meant in the music world. This particually affects the ones who have grown with them and their music helped them through dufficult times but also made somehow happy moments more memorable. It's obvious that we are losing innovative and talented generation of musicians that changed understanding of music and made basis for today's art

David Bowie

The world still hasn't recovered from the death of  David Bowie in January, when suddenly in April, remained without another huge legend- Prince. Both legends are known for having extraordinary charisma and outstanding talent for songwriting and performance.
They really knew how to attract the attention of the audience with unusual clothing and dance at that time. But the most fascinating was definetely their abolity to share their emitions with ordinary people like you and me.

Prince
Many people were exited in October to find out that Leonard Cohen published 14th album titled
'' You Want It Darker''.Month later, we read about his death. Pure hapiness while listening new album and figuring his final words changed into sadness.
We lost one of the greatest poets in 20th century whose words touched hearts of many people.

Leonard Cohen
As if all of that wasn't enough, world was suprised by the prematured death of George Michael, who
( ironically ) died on Christmas. Although, I'm not a big fan of him, I felt lost and sad when I hear about his passing because I grow up listening ''Freedom'' and ''Careless Whisper'' . Listening
'' Last Christmas '' has become a tradition to many of us. It is a song full of emotion, love, nostalgia but since zhis Christmas, meaning has sadly changed.

Alan Rickman

This year has been bad fot the acting world too. In January,we lost Alan Rickman. Person who marked childhood of Y generation with his role in Harry Potter series. Alhtough, many of us remember him as a Professor Severus Snape, he made another brilliant roles in movies such as '' Sense and Sensibility '' and '' Love Actually ''.

Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher

Another huge icons who died this year are Carrie Fisher and her mother Debbie Reynolds. I was deeply shocked when I herd that Carrie passed away as she was my first female hero when I wasa child. Not only a brilliant actress, she was an inspiring human being always open about her struggle with mental illness and addiction. All a can say about her mother is that she was a true diva.

Stay afraid, but do it anyway. What’s important is the action. You don’t have to wait to be confident. Just do it and eventually the confidence will follow.” - Carrie Fisher

George Martin, Glenn Frey, Mohamed Ali, Gene Wilder.... now I can go on and on. The point is that we are losing one of the greatest of time. This year has be difficult and we all hope that we won't have to deal with the deaths of this many icons in the folling year.

Wish you all happy new year!

XO, Antonia
